Fujifilm S1800 Camera

Hello all and welcome back to the blog. Today is a nice cold snowy day, so I thought it'd be a good time to talk about the camera I use. I bought my Fujifilm S1800 camera over Christmas and I really like it. It's a super-zoom, or bridge camera. It's better than a normal point and shoot but not yet to the point of a DSLR (which I hope to get one day haha).

I got my camera for ~$150 (Today, Jan 11, 2011, it's ~$164), then of course you have to buy a memory card, some batteries, a case and preferably a tripod and it somewhat adds up. I was on quite a tight budget and I needed a camera under $200, so I knew I couldn't buy a DSLR. However, I wanted something a little better than an average point and shoot. I did a ton of research, looking through many cameras online before I picked this one. It seemed to have what I need: a good zoom, a higher MP than I'm used to, shutter and aperture control, 720p HD movies , etc. Another thing is I read lots of reviews from various sites, so that I got different view points for the camera, instead a biased review from someone who works for the company or someone who just hates the brand.

As you can see, it takes fairly good pictures, which after 3 years of a crappy point and shoot with pretty bad image quality, is something I desperately wanted. I looked at various sample photos and watched test videos and it seemed good enough so I bought it.

And that's the backstory on my camera. For full specifications you can look here:

Also, in my research, a very good review site that I found (other than looking through amazon reviews) is: Photography Blog Camera Reviews.

Have a nice day!
